United Airlines | Out of EWR

To convince New Yorkers to fly out of the most dreaded airport in the city,
we created an outdoor campaign positioning Newark against its biggest rival: JFK.

The campaign launched with digital taxi tops that used real-time traffic data to calculate travel times to JFK and EWR from each cab’s exact location. United saw an increase of 810K passengers out of EWR the following year and continued running the campaign for more than a decade.

These went up on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, right on the route to JFK.

There were also destination-specific ads touting United's vast network, all accessible from EWR.

The campaign was so successful that we were asked to create a similar one for the Bay Area. This time we used tech-speak to convince San Francisco that United could hang with the other airlines.
